Australian
Natives.
The question is often asked, "Why plant Natives?"
There are many good reasons, such as they will survive on less water,
most of them will take more hot weather than their European cousins and
the native foliage will not burn as easily as the cooler climate plants.
Native Shrubs and Trees
Native
shrubs and trees planted in the right position can enhance any garden
with attractive flowers, foliage or colourful bark on the trunk or main
stems.
The flowers encourage many varieties of birds into the garden including
insect eating species which will help control unwanted garden pests.
Place a pond or bird bath in the garden to persuade the birds to live
in your garden.

Native Ground Covers
These come in all shapes and sizes.
When planting an open area you might like to plant tall, large spreading
plants at the rear of the garden bed and decrease in growing size towards
the front.
Remember.
When planting close to or under low growing shrubs, select low spreading
ground covers to prevent foliage contact.
Native
Climbers
Our Australian native climbers are often forgotten
about when it comes to creepers to use as a screen to hide that unsightly
dividing fence or garage.

Narrow
gardens can cause a problem where there is a wall, fence or retaining
wall and where there is a need for quick coverage plants. Select the right
creeper that is vigorous growing, medium coverage and little depth and
very soon that position in your garden has been transformed to a place
of beauty.
Native climbers make a wonderful background to a garden or can be used
for colourful screens around the compost bins or vegetable gardens or
over trellis to create shaded areas.
